Ibne Shahr Ashob relates, that (Caliph) Mansoor requested Imam Moosa al Kazim (alaihi salam) to hold a congregation for greetings on the day of Nawrooz and receive whatever is brought to him. Imam (alaihi salam) replied: “I have examined the reports transmitted to me from my grandfather the Prophet of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wa ali), and I have not found any details regarding this day of celebration. This had been the practice of the Persians, while Islam has abolished it, and may Allah protect (us), from reviving things which were abrogated by Islam”.
