Question about hadith: Whoever died and …

Question – Prophet Muhammad SAW once said: ”Whoever dies without following an Imam of his time, has died an ignorant death.” – Sunni sources: Musnad Abi Dawood Al-Tyalsi 259, Saheeh Ibn Habaan 10/434:4573, Mujam Al-Kabeer, Tabarani 19/388:910, Musnad Ahmad 61/5:16434, Sharh Al-Maqaased 4/239.
a shi’a provide me this hadith for proving to following imam….

Answer – Salam alaikum.

First of all translation isn’t saheeh.
Here arabic text directly from Saheeh of ibn Hibban:
من مات وليس له إمام مات ميتة جاهلية

“Whoever died and he had not Imam, died by death of ignorance”.
Abu Hatim (rahimuhullah) explained this as prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam). Meaning that he was Imam of all world, and whoever died without believing in him, or accepting him, died as a person in period of jahiliyah.
That hadith could be explained also as obeying to ruler. Meaning if you are living in Islamic country, and you died while you was not under the obedience of him, you died like a jahil.
If someone from shias would argue with you regarding their so called 12-th Imam, say that Imam should be present, so people could follow him, and obey him. Obviously their 12-th imam is absent, so how on earth they could follow him?
Allah knows best.
Ibn Abi Effendi.

  1. Brother, please add the view of our scholars aboit this matter.

    Sahih Muslim , Hadith 1850:

من مات وليس في عنقه بيعة مات ميتة جاهلية

Whosoever dies while he does not have on his neck a pledge of allegiance dies the death of Jahiliyyah.

Whom we have to give bayyah? It will be great if you mention the view of the scholars. Make the rafidha shut up!

    • The hadith refers to a Khaleefah, an Imam. However, the Shi’ite concept of an “infallible” imam is alien to Islam and goes against ahl us sunnah wa’l jam’ah. Our belief is that only the anbiya (prophets) of Allah are ma’soom or infallible. even the sahabah do not fit this category.

In current times, this hadith actually asks us to work towards the re-establishment of the khilafah rashidah. Especially since the ummah is ruled by man-made laws and puppet rulers, it is incumbent upon each and every Muslim to work for this cause.

      Jazak’Allah Khair!
