Knowledge of prophet and Imams

Shia attributed to imam words which clearly goes against verse of Holy book.

Shia shaykh Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn Hasan as-Saffar in his “Basairu darajat” (p 127, chapter 6) narrated:

1- حدثنا العباس بن معروف عن حماد بن عيسى عن حريز عن أبي بصير عن أبي جعفر ع قال سئل علي ع عن علم النبي ص فقال علم النبي علم جميع النبيين و علم ما كان و علم ما هو كائن إلى قيام الساعة ثم قال و الذي نفسي بيده إني لأعلم علم النبي ص و علم ما كان و ما هو كائن فيما بيني و بين قيام الساعة.

(Chain) Ali (alaihi salam) was asked about knowledge of prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam), and he replied: “Knowledge of prophet is a knowledge of all prophets, and (that knowledge) is knowledge of what has happen and what gonna happen till hour of resurrection”. Then he said: “And by That in whos hand is my soul, i know knowledge of prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam), and (i know) knowledge of what has happen and what gonna happen between me and hour of resurrection”.

Points to discuss:

1) Hadith says: Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) knew time of doomsday and imam knew that also. Because if someone knows what gonna happen till such and such date, he apparently knows that date also.

Allah said: [Shakir 7:187] They ask you about the hour, when will be its taking place? Say: The knowledge of it is only with my Lord; none but He shall manifest it at its time; it will be momentous in the heavens and the earth; it will not come on you but of a sudden. They ask you as if you were solicitous about it. Say: Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most people do not know.

2) Hadith force us to belief that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) knew future, and imam knew that also.

Allah said: [Shakir 7:188] Say (O Muhammad): I do not control any benefit or harm for my own soul except as Allah please; and had I known the unseen I would have had much of good and no evil would have touched me; I am nothing but a warner and the giver of good news to a people who believe.

Shia books say us that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) was poisoned by his wifes (walauthubillah). And we all know that imam Ali (may Allah be pleased with them) was killed. And shias believe that all imams were killed, someone from them for example al-Hassan was poisoned.
If shia also claim complete knowledge of unseen to their imams, they should accuse imams in self-murder!

Let us go further in reading “Basairu darajat”.

In the same chapter as above, at pages 127-128, as-Saffar gave another interesting narration:

3- حدثنا علي بن إسماعيل عن محمد بن عمرو الزيات عن يونس عن عبد الأعلى
بن أعين قال سمعت أبا عبد الله ع يقول إني لأعلم ما في السماء و أعلم ما في الأرض و أعلم ما في الجنة و أعلم ما في النار و أعلم ما كان و أعلم ما يكون علمت ذلك من كتاب الله إن الله تعالى يقول فيه تبيان كل شيء.

(Chain) imam Abu Abdullah (alaihi salam) said: I know what is in the sky, and know what is on earth, and know what is in the paradise, and what is in the hell, know what has happen, and what gonna happen. I learned it from book of Allah, Allah Taala says in it: Book explaining all things.

I already posted above verse, where is clear proof that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) didn’t know unseen. How is it possible that imam learned all those things from book of Allah, but prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa salam) didn’t?

Let us go further,

Allah Taala said in Quran:
[Pickthal 7:157] Those who follow the messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, whom they will find described in the Torah and the Gospel (which are) with them. He will enjoin on them that which is right and forbid them that which is wrong. He will make lawful for them all good things and prohibit for them only the foul; and he will relieve them of their burden and the fetters that they used to wear. Then those who believe in him, and honour him, and help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him: they are the successful.
[Pickthal 7:158] Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah to you all – (the messenger of) Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and He giveth death. So believe in Allah and His messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, who believeth in Allah and in His Words, and follow him that haply ye may be led aright.

Very same as-Saffar entitled chapter in his book to reject this verse.

Chapter #4. Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) could read and write in all languages.

In this chapter, at page 226, he quoted Muhammad ibn Ali ar-Ridha saying:

كان رسول الله ص يقرأ و يكتب باثنين و سبعين أو بثلاثة و سبعين لسانا

“Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) could read and write in 72 or 73 languages”.

Taala said in Quran about his prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) الأُمِّيَّ /UMME/, and that means the one who can neither read nor write

I was amazed to see an explanation of shias. Cursed Yasir al-Habib said that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) was decribed as umme because he was from Mekkah-Ummul-Kurah. Amazing how far could go shias in defending their false beliefs!

They tottaly forgot how was revealed surah al-Alaq.
Story well known in our book, so i would quote shia commentary.
In “The Light of The Holy Qur’an” tafsir that was compilied by Ayatullah Sayyid Kamal Faghih Imani
and a group of shia scholars, in commentary of surah al-Alaq (pp 122-123) we can read:

Some narrations denote that the holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) had gone to Mount Hira when Gabriel came and told him: Iqra’ (Read/Proclaim) . He said that he was not ‘versed’. Gabriel embraced him and told him again to proclaim; and the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) repeated the same answer. Gabriel embraced him for a second time, but was given the same answer. Then, for the fourth time he told him: Read (Proclam!) In the name of your Lord who created, (and recited the first five verses) .

Also it’s well known from sunnah that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) ordered to one of his companions to learn jews language, to write to them, and to read their letters.

And we proceed,

Allah Taala said in Quran: [31:34] No soul knows what it will earn to-morrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware.

Famous shia writer al-Kulayni in his book “al-Kafi” entitled a chapter which clearly rejects this verse.

The Imams (alaihuma salam) know when they will die and they die voluntarily

Let us have a quick look at some narrations from this chapter.

“al-Kafi” volume 1, p 258, #1

Muhammad ibn Yahya from Salamah ibn-al-Khattab from Sulayman ibn Samaa and Abdallah ibn Muhammad from Abdallah ibn al-Qasim al-Batal from abu Basir from abu Abdallah (alaihi salam): “Whoever of the Imams that would not know what would happen to him and to what events he would proceed such a person is not a possessor of Divine authority over His creature.”

P 259, #3:

Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from abu Jamilah from Abdallah ibn abu Jafar who has said that my brother narrated from Jafar abu Abdallah (alaihi salam) from his father that he went to Ali ibn al-Husayn (alaihi salam) on the night in which he passed away and offered him a drink requesting, “Father, please drink it.” He said, “Son, this is the night in which I will pass away and during such night the Messenger of Allah also passed away.”

P 259, #4:

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamid from al-Hassan ibn al-Jahm who has said that he said to al-Rida (alaihi salam) the following. “Amir al-Muminin Ali (alaihi salam) knew his assassin, the night in of being murdered and the spot whereat who be murdered. It is his words on hearing the ducks at the house, “These are the quacks that will be followed by lamentations.” Also the words of Umm Kulthum (his daughter). “Would that you pray inside the house and send someone else to lead the prayer in the Mosque.” He refused to do so and at that night he went many times out of the house unarmed. He knew that ibn Muljim, may he be condemned will murder him with a sword. He must not have exposed himself to it” The Imam (alaihi salam) said, “It is true but it was chosen that night wherein the measure and the determination of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High would come to pass.”

Amazing! So man knows his murder, place where he would be assasinated, time of assault, and he went there by his own feet. What about verse of Allah? Taala said: No soul knows what it will earn to-morrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. They say: Imam knew that all.
