Bismillah.
It was reported by Imam Ahmad and others that Aisha (r.a) once said to prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam):
وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ أَبِي وَمِنِّي مَرَّتَيْنِ
“By Allah! I surely know that Ali is dearer to you than me and my father”
One of our brothers asked me to shed some light on this report and refute shias doubts.
First of all we would say, it was narrated by Imam Bukhari in his Saheeh, Volume 5, Book 57, Number 14, from Amr bin Al-As: The Prophet deputed me to read the Army of Dhat-as-Salasil. I came to him and said, “Who is the most beloved person to you?” He said, ” ‘Aisha.” I asked, “Among the men?” He said, “Her father.” I said, “Who then?” He said, “Then ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab.” He then named other men.
This report in itself is enough to refute shia doubt. Because report of Aisha (r.a), (if it is saheeh) is only her opinion, but hadith of Amr ibn al-As represent words and opinion of prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam).
Second point is we have mutawateer report from Ali, where he himself said that shaykhan are better than him in the matter of fadail.

Amr Ibn Al-Aas (la) was an enemy of Ahl-ul-Bayt (as) and remained an enemy till he departed to hell………I found not a single tradition from this man in praise of Ali (as) in your most authentic Sahih Bukhari, all traditions related to Ahl-ul-Bayt from him are ridiculous, any sane man can understand how much he hated Ali (as) when he read such traditions. History is a witness that this man always stood against Ahl-ul-Bayt either with his sword or by his tongue.
Secondly, the fadhael of Imam Ali (as) is as much as there are grass on earth and no doubt he was superior than any other companion as we have many traditions proving this fact……first of all Imam Ali (as) was chosen twice by Prophet (saaw) as his brother in the events of brotherhood one at Maccah & other at Madina, this shows how much he loved Ali (as), this proves how much he loved Imam Ali that he on two occasions picked only him, while Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman were never in the thoughts of Prophet that is why he picked Imam Ali on both occasions……then on another occasion Imam Ali was sent to Yemen for the announcement of the revelation of Surah Bara’at even though Abu Bakr was already deputed for this job but Allah revealed to Prophet that the revelation must be announced either by him or by one of his Ahl-ul-Bayt, so Prophet sent Imam Ali (as) and called Abu Bakr back to pavillion.
There are many such incidents that are surely elevating the status of Imam Ali (as) far above other sahabah.
I must disagree, ya Rafidi Majoosi. First off, spare us your Sassanid-Persian Majoosi grudge against the noble companions. Yes, Amr Ibn Al-‘Aas (رضي الله عنه على رغم انف الرافضة المجوس) was involved in a Fitnah and fought against Ali. So what? Being involved in a Fitnah against Ali makes one a Kafir? Your filthy Majoosi Rabbis have ALL (except a few) ATTACKED the main thaql (the Qur’an), yet your scholars excuse them under the pretext of ‘Ijtihad’. So if one can reject the authenticity of the Qur’an based on Ijtihad, why one can’t be involved in a Fitnah against your demigod Ali (رضي الله عنه و أرضاه)?
‘Amr Ibn Al-‘Aas was the Faatih of Misr, a hero of Islam, not a infallible (like your house dwelling and cave dwelling ones), no doubt he made mistakes, but Allah will Insha’Allah forgive him, unlike your Mushrik scholars who propagate Shirk (‘Amr never did that) and attacked the Quran (‘Amr never did that, except in the crap, weak narrations you Rafidah Majoos like to use, like the following one:http://www.ahlalhdeeth.com/vbe/showthread.php?t=3267)

Die in your grudge, we believe according to Mutawatir Hadith that Ali will do the job for you on Muharram i.e. he will whip you big time for just suggesting that he (Ali) is superior to Abu Bakr:
