‘Praying is better than sleep’ (al-salaatu khayrun min al-nawm) – in Shia books

Here are some narrations from Shia books, that would be authenticated according to the standards of most Shia scholars, nevertheless be assured that the Rafidah will reject them. It’s stil a good blow to them (also check the links on the bottom of the post).

Al-tathweeb (al-salaatu khayrun min al-nawm) a Bid’ah?

1.

Imam Abu Jaafar (Al-Baqir) said: ‘My father (Ali Ibn Al-Hussein, Al-Sajjad/Zayn Al-Abideen) used to call out from his house in prayer: ”Praying is better than sleep’ (al-salaatu khayrun min al-nawm)’.

[Tahdhib vol.7, p.63 no. 15, Wasa’el Al-Shia v.22 S.651, Nummer 4. Hadith grading: Muwathaq/authentic]

COMMENT: The narration says ‘inside his house’, so the Taqiyyah excuse won’t work here. Clearly, the tradition of al baqir (rah) was meant to show that the practice was not part of taqiyah but something done habitually privately, in one’s own home, and that this is why it is legitimate.

2.

Imam Abu Abdallah (Al-Sadiq) said: ‘The calling and the Tathweeb in Iqamah is from the Sunnah.’

[Wasa’el Al-Shia vol.22, p.65 no.3 and in Tahtheeb Al-Ahkaam]

same narration with a slightly different wording:

فأما ما رواه محمد بن علي بن محبوب عن أحمد بن الحسن عن الحسين عن حماد ابن عيسى عن شعيب بن يعقوب عن أبي بصير عن أبي عبدالله (ع) قال النداء والتثويب في الاذان من السنة.

Imam Abu Abdallah (Al-Sadiq) said: ‘The calling and the Tathweeb in Athaan is from the Sunnah.’

[Al-Istibsaar]

NOTE: Tathweeb stands for ‘al-salaatu khayrun min al-nawm, this has been confirmed by the biggest Shia Shaykhs, such as Al-Hilli:

والتثويب مكروه وهو قول: ” الصلاة خير من النوم ”

‘Al-Tathweeb is disliked (Makrooh) and it’s the saying: “as-salaatu khayrun min al-nawn”.’

COMMENT: Al-Hilli says it’s Bid’ah, Al-Sadiq says it’s Sunnah. But they got more desperate than that. Shias will refer you to  Mirza Qmumi who declared this tradition weak in Minhaj al-Ahkam, page 179. But guess on what bases? On NO basis, just out of desperation.
He gives no reason for weakening it. It seems that he was just desperate to weaken this narration.

3.

Imam Abu Abdallah (Al-Sadiq) said: ‘My father used to call out from his house in prayer: “Prayer is better than sleep”. If you repeat that, there will be no problem.”

(Al-Istibsar, Volume 1 page 308. Also in Al-Tahdeeb, Volume 2 page 63 Hadeeth Number 15)

SHIA EXCUSES: Narration is weak because of the following narrator: Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Yahyaa Attaar Al-Ash’ari. Al-Khoi says about him: Majhool in hisMu’jam al Rijal vol. 3 pg. 123. Also Jawahiri didn’t authenticate him. The thing is though (as stated in the beginning of this article) most Shia scholars (according to their own standard) should have no problems accepting this narration. In fact, the majority of  Shia scholars take him as Thiqah or at least Hasan. Would those Shia who weaken this Hadith, also weaken the MANY books and hadeeth that have been narrated through Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahyaa? I wonder if they are consistent, or are they just weakening him to win the argument? For your information, this Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Yahyaa Attaar Al-Ash’ari Al-Qummi has narrated over 5000 (!) narrations in Al-Kafi. In total, Al-Kafī comprises approx. 16,000 narrations, so by (suddenly) declaring him as ‘Majhool’ (uknown and hence unreliable), so by weakening him the Shia have to throw away 1/3 of their book.

Now here is a real  funny excuse (no, this time it’s not Taqiyyah) Shia scholars have given:
وبعض الأصحاب لم يحملها على التقية بل على قول ذلك في غير الآذان كقصد التنبيه

“Some of our companions didn’t consider it as Taqiyyah, but they deemed it an announcement other than in the Athaan”

COMMENT: Aha! An announcement other then in the ‘Athaan’. Ridiculous. He used to call out those words that Omar innovated? Hope to see more Rafidis following the Sunnah of their Imams by calling out those words that Omar ‘innovated’.

Also, the narration says ‘inside his house’, so the Taqiyyah excuse won’t work here. Clearly, the tradition of al baqir (rah) was meant to show that the practice was not part of taqiyah but something done habitually privately, in one’s own home, and that this is why it is legitimate. Claiming that this is done due to Taqiyyah is absurd since some of the Ahl Al-Sunnah said that it isn’t a Sunnah, among them Tabi’een such as Tawoos, and nobody did anything to Tawoos. He wasn’t ostracised, banished, beaten, or killed. So, why would we assume that the Imams saying that this is not Sunnah would hurt them?May Allah keep our minds safe from such illusions.

CONCLUSION:

This seems to be an innovation by Ahl Al-Bayt. On a serious note though, ‘Al-Tathweeb’ is THE Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah Rafidah have tried alot to (as usual) blame Omar of this ‘innovations’ (there lies have been refuted HERE). They have not just lied against Omar (رضي الله عنه) but even against their Imams. If the Rafidah protest and say that all the narrations quoted by us are weak, then they shall know that they have tested their own medicine i.e. next time they should think twice if they want to quote random weak and fabricated narrations from our books.

  1. Second Tradition#
Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub from
    Ahmad ibn Al-Hassan from Al-Hussayn
from Hammad ibn Isa from Shu’ayb
    ibn Ya’qub from Abu Basir:
    “Imam Jafar said: … Al-Tathweeb (i.e. the
statement of ‘Al-Salat Khayron Min Al-
Nawm’) in Iqama is part of the Sunnat.

    Al-Tahdeeb, Volume 2 page 62 Hadeeth
    Number 14

    Allamah Mirza
Qumi declared this tradition weak in
    Minhaj al-Ahkam, page 179.

    Another Tradition:-

    Wasa’el Al-Shia, Volume 5 page
    427 Hadeeth number 6998:

“Imam Jafar (as) said: When you are in
    morning prayer say ‘Al-Salat Khayron
Min Al-Nawm’ after ‘Hayye Ala Khayr
Al-Amal’ in Adhan but don’t say it in
    Iqama.”

This tradition is taken from the book of
ibn abi Nasr al-Bezanti who wrote his
book when he was an adherent Waqifi
    Sect, therefore, any narrations recorded
by him during that period are of no value
and are accordingly rejected by the Shias.

Sayyed Khoei said in Mujam al-Rijal,
    Volume 3 page 18:

“He was Waqifi and then he returned.”

  2. *The actual belief of Imams
    (as) about reciting
    Tathweeb

    ibn Wahab asked Imam as-
    Sadiq about the Tathweeb [saying
‘Prayer is better than sleep’ between
the Adhan and the Iqamah. He said:
    “It is unknown to us.”

    2. Al-Faqih, Volume 2 page 63
    3. Tahdeeb, Volume 2 page 63
    4. Istibsar, Volume 1 page 308
    5. Wasa’il, Volume 5 page 426

    6. Shaykh Baqar Majlesi in Mirat al-Uqool,
Volume 15 page 83 and Sayyed Rohani in
    Fiqh al-Sadiq, Volume 4 page 329 have
    declared it Sahih.

  3. always be assure and then comment or post stuff about other people religion online do not generalise all shia for what you think and today In the world who are the WAHABIs obviously most of them are the SAUDIS and i think you are on of them ! this money and shit won’t escape you from hear after

    • We are not a Saudi, we are a team, not a SINGLE Saudi among us. You slandering and going mad won’t change the fact that we provided academical arguments to destroy the Shia arguments (lies) in regards to the adding to the Adan (as-salatu khayrum-min …).
