Sitting on throne next to Allah


Shaykh of shias al-Mufid in his book “al-Ihtisas” p- 18 narrated:

الاختصاص ـ المفيد ص18 - Copy

عن جابر بن يزيد عن ابي جعفر عليه السلام في قول الله تبارك وتعالى : (عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا) قال عليه السلام : يجلسه على العرش معه

Translation:

From Jabir ibn Yazid from Abu Jafar (alaihi salam) who said regarding words of Allah: “perhaps you will attain a praiseworthy station” (al-Isra verse 79): “He will  make him to sit on Throne next to himself”.

 

Other shia Ali al-Huwayzi in “Tafsir Noor as-Saqalayn” 3/207 wrote:

تفسير نور الثقلين ـ عبد علي بن جمعة الحويزي ج3 ص207 - Copy

في كتاب الاحتجاج للطبرسي روى موسى بن جعفر عن ابيه عن ابائه عن الحسين بن علي قال : قال علي عليه السلام :
قد ذكر مناقب رسول الله صلى الله عليه واله وعده المقام المحمود فاذا كان يوم القيامه أقعده الله تعالى على العرش.

Translation:

In book al-Ihtijaj of at-Tabarsi from Musa ibn Jafar from his father, from his father from al-Husayn ibn Ali, that Ali (alaihi salam) mentioned some merits of prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ali), and that “praiseworhty station” been promised for him. In the doomsday Allah will make him sit on the Throne.

 

Other shia scholar Hujjatul Islam al-Mirza Muhammad Taqi ibn Allama Muhammad at-Tabrizi in book “Sahifatul Abrar” 2/200, quoted hadith where Imam said:

صحيفة الابرار ـ محمد تقي حجة الاسلام ص140 ط ق - Copy

حتى أن الله تعالى يزور الحسين عليه السلام ويصافحه ويقعد معه على سرير يا مفضل هذه والله الرفعة التي ليس فوقها شئ لا لورائها مطلب.

Translation: Even Allah Taala visits al-Husayn  (alaihi salam), SHAKES HIS HAND AND SITS NEXT TO HIM ON THE BED. O Mufaddal! This is by Allah such greatness that there is nothing upper this, and no other target after that.

Commenting on this report shia author said:

هذا الحديث من الأحاديث المستصعبة التي لا يحتملها إلا ملك مقرب أو نبي مرسل أو مؤمن امتحن الله قلبه للإيمان وهو حقيق بأن يشرح شرحا وافيا ولكن القلب عن ذلك عليل واللسان كليل.

Translation: This narration from difficult reports, that no one can bear apart from closed angel, or sent prophet, or believer whose heart been tested by Allah with faith. And it has right to be commented with comprehensive explanation. But heart is deficient and tongue is feeble

Benefit: Shaykhul islam ibn Taymiyyah in “Darul Taaradul Aql wal Naql” (5/98) said that all reports with such meaning – that prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sallam) will sit on Throne, are fabricated.

Imam Dhahabi said in “al-Uluw al-Aliy al-Athim” p 1081, said that there is nothing established with such meaning.
