The virtues of Faatimah the daughter of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)

I hear that Fatima (ra) and Ali (ra) had a daughter in addition to Hassan (ra) and Hussein (ra), but I know nothing else about her. Could you tell us something about her please, like how her life was, and whether she had any role in Islamic history, etc.

Praise be to Allaah.

Faatimah, the daughter of the leader of mankind, Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), al-Qurashiyyah al-Haashimiyyah, Umm al-Hasanayn [the mother of al-Hasan and al-Husayn]. She was born shortly before the beginning of the Mission of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and she married ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) after the battle of Badr. The virtues of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her)

The virtues of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her)

What are the virtues of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her)? Can you tell us something about her so that we women may follow her example? This is a matter that is of interest to me and my friends, and we are studying the religion.

Praise be to Allaah.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Among her unique characteristics is: that she was the dearest of the wives of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to him, as was reported from him in al-Bukhaari and elsewhere. He was asked, Which of the people is dearest to you? He said, ‘Aa’ishah. He was asked, Who among men (is dearest to you)? He said, Her father.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that he did not marry any other virgin apart from her.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that he did not receive Revelation in the bed of any of his wives apart from hers.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that when Allaah revealed the aayah commanding him to give his wives the choice, he started with her and gave her the choice first. He said, “You do not have to hasten until you have consulted with your parents.” She said, “Do I need to consult my parents concerning this? I choose Allaah and His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter.” The rest of his wives followed her example and said the same as she had said.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that Allaah declared her innocence of that of which the people of the slander (ahl al-ifk) accused her, and revealed words concerning her innocence that are recited in the mosques of the Muslims and during their prayers until the Day of Resurrection. Allaah Himself bore witness that she is one of the good women, and promised her forgiveness and a goodly provision. He, may He be glorified, stated that what was said about her in the slander was ultimately good for her, in the end it was not bad for her and did not do any harm to her status, because through this Allaah raised her status and her innocence is mentioned among the people of heaven and earth, which is an incomparably good thing.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that the greatest Sahaabah, when they were confused about some matter of religion, would consult her and would find the knowledge they were seeking with her.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died in her house, on her day, in her arms, and he was buried in her house.

Also among her unique characteristics is: that the angel showed her image to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on a silk cloth before he married her. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “If this is from Allaah, then it will surely come to pass.”

Also among her unique characteristics is: that the people used to try to bring their gifts to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on her day, seeking to draw close to the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). So they would bring him gifts of things that he liked, in the house of the one who was the dearest of his wives to him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). May Allaah be pleased with all his wives.

Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

Praise of ahlel-bait from ibn Taymiya

Salam alaikum

Sheikhul-islam Taqiad-deen Abul Abbas Ahmad ibn Abdulhaleem ibn Taymiya said:

“As for killers of Hussein, or those who helped to kill him, or those who were glad with his murder, may curse of Allah, angels and all human be upon them”.

And he also said:

من أبغضهم فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين
“May curse of Allah, angels and all human be upon the one who would hate them (ahlel-bayt)”.

See “Fatawa” 1/392.

And he said:

“And Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, without any doubt from people who loved Allah, and who were beloved by Allah”.

See: Minhaj us sunna 7 / 218

And he said:

“And Ali and others were mawla of all believers. That’s a description established for Ali during the life of prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa salam), and after his death, and after the death of Ali (himself). And Ali today is a mawla of all believers”.

See: Minhaj us sunna 7 / 325

And he said:

“No doubt that mawlat (friendship) of Ali is obligatory for all believers, as it obligatory on all believers mawlat of believers like him”.

See: Minhaj us sunna 7 / 27

And he said:

“No doubt that Ali from the bravest companions, and from those by whos jihad Allah granted victory to islam, and from the greatest who “first to lead the way, of the Muhajirin and the Ansar”.

See: Minhaj us sunna 8 / 76

And he said:

“As for the zuhd of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, to property, there is no doubt in it”.

See: Minhaj us sunna 7 / 489

And he said:

“It’s known that companions that were around Ali, like Ammar, Sahl ibn Khunayf and others like them, were better that those who were around Moawiya”.

The best one from you is a best (in his attitude) towards my family

Salam alaikum wa rahmatullah.

From Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa salam) said:

خيركم خيركم لأهلي من بعدي
“The best from your is a best (in his attitude) towards my family after me”

Narrated:
Ibn al-Arabi in “Mojam”#702.

Scholars said:
Hakim said it’s saheh on the terms of Moslem, and has a witness on the terms of shaikham.

Shaikh Albani said it’s good in “Silsila as saheha” #1845.

Love to Hasan and Hussain

Ibn Majah ® reported in his “Sunnan”:

(Chain) from Abu Hurayra: Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa salam) said: Who would love al-Hasan and al-Husayn he loves me, and whoever would hate them, hates me”.

Sheikh Albani in “Saheeh ibn Majah” said it’s hasan.
